about us
Eskandari Bicycle Co. was founded by Danny Eskandari in 2015 to design and make quality, durable, stylish and innovative electric bikes for Australian conditions and Australian riders. The bikes are all designed and made in our Broadmeadows (Melbourne) factory and made to last - whether they are ridden on any type of road or track, or off-road on sand, gravel, grass, mud, or across creeks.
In 1999 Danny retired from a successful professional road cycling career, including riding in a winning Tour de France team in 1992 (winning a stage himself that year). He then moved into quality bike sales at Cannondale Australia, rising to became general manager of the brand in Australia, one of the most reputable globally. After seeing the potential of electric bikes in Australia for people's commutes and for their leisure, he got to work in his garage, adapting bikes available overseas to be more suitable for Australian conditions and riders. Danny quickly realised that it would be better to completely design and built the bikes himself, and that is what he did. He quit his job and launched EBC in his garage in Melbourne in 2015. He launched the missile model, now in its 10th year (and 7th version) that same year and the bike became a hit with bike couriers and delivery riders, who could ride faster, further, and therefore earn more money with far less sweat from their workdays or nights.
Bike sales took off in that first year, allowing Danny to take on two staff members to help with the manufacturing, freeing up time to work on new bikes. The quest model for commuters was launched in 2016 and an off-road bike, the ranger, was launched at the end of that year. By now, Danny, Mike and Penny were making around 30 bikes a week and selling them from two quality bike stores in Melbourne, and they had outgrown Danny's garage (and garden sheds, and a neighbouring disused scout hall he rented). They converted a disused tyre factory in Broadmeadows, a 15 minute cycle ride up the road, into their present design and manufacturing factory and workshop, opening Australia's first bicycle factory, pedal or electric, since the 1980's.
After initially being distributed in a large bike chain of stores in Australia, as well as a handful of smaller city and suburban bike stores, EBC pulled out of the former within a couple of years, realising that the products are best demonstrated and customer service is best in quality city and suburban bike stores. There are currently 27 across Australia, in all states.
EBC currently makes over 4,000 electric bicycles a year, all made by hand and with love, all having been designed in the same building. It employs 19 team members who are all as passionate as Danny about getting Australians out of their cars or off buses or trains, and onto a quality, stylish, reliable and smart electric bike, regardless of where they want to go, and if they want to sweat a little, or not at all.
There are currently 6 models in three ranges, with prices starting at $1,550. EBC also sells battery packs and accessories a full range of saddle bags that help keep your stuff safe and dry when you are riding or away from the bike.

Danny's message to you:
'We are proud of what we have achieved in just 10 years, starting in my garage with a dream and with the passion and hard work of more than two dozen people who turn up everyday to our workplace to make our customers lives better, and the planet better.
There are bikes we made in 2015 still on the road, or off it, muddy, work, loved and still with more to give. I'm proud that people all over the country rely on us to get to work or get away from it, and to get around this beautiful land of ours, pedalling or not at all.
People have told us from the beginning, that they would love to ride but it doesn't fit into their busy week - and now with our bikes it does.'
